The practice, the framework, and the founder behind DARING.
DARING (Dunne Advisory Risk Intelligence Group) is an independent strategic risk intelligence advisory practice built on the belief that the risks organizations actually miss live in the gap between disciplines, not inside any one of them. Traditional security consultancies stay narrow, and enterprise risk management firms tend toward compliance-driven reporting. DARING sits deliberately at the intersection, bringing 15+ years of operational GSOC leadership together with a formal grounding in conflict analysis and organizational psychology, a pairing most practitioners don't carry in one person.
Competitors typically have one lens: security or ERM. DARING has both, applied together through IRIS.
No overhead-loaded pricing, no junior staff doing the work under a partner's pitch. The person who scopes the engagement delivers it.
DARING is vendor-agnostic by design: no product steering the advice.
The practice runs on two engagement types: retainer relationships across five tiers, and fixed-fee standalone projects. It serves both small-to-mid-market clients adding capabilities previously absent and larger enterprises seeking cross-domain synthesis their siloed teams can't produce. All of it is anchored by IRIS, DARING's proprietary framework for that synthesis work.
Jay Dunne's career has been driven by a passion for complexity, for finding the connections between things that look unrelated. In a field that prizes narrow subject-matter expertise, that instinct sets him apart. It's the strength that DARING is built on.
He isn't a traditional physical security professional, a classic ERM practitioner, or a product of the government intelligence community. What he brings instead is operational depth and an interdisciplinary approach. He's built and led global security operations centers, embedded intelligence programs, and crisis management teams, using data and technology to sharpen how organizations engage threats and build resilience. His approach draws on conflict analysis, organizational psychology, and product management. He works with clients through appreciative inquiry and an elicitive, conflict-sensitive process, not a prescriptive one.
That work has served some of the world's largest organizations, the majority Fortune 500 and several Fortune 100, including Cummins, Mars, Westinghouse Nuclear, McKesson, Shopify, Takeda, SC Johnson, and Elevance Health, alongside NGOs like Save the Children, Catholic Relief Services, International Rescue Committee, and Refugees International. Across those engagements, he's led travel and asset risk programs, VIP protective intelligence, geopolitical scenario forecasting, 24/7 GSOC design and deployment, and enterprise risk intelligence product development, building the cross-functional relationships that make those programs work.
Transboundary risks are appearing more often, and the cost of missing them has never been higher. That's why he launched DARING: to give organizations the capacity to see hidden risks, and the operational courage to act on them strategically.
